I visit numerous new developments while performing Home Inspections and observe many deficiencies while homes are being built. Most of the shortcomings will not be observed after the house is completed. Many of the issues we see include improper roof and window flashing installation. Because the flashing is installed incorrectly, water and moisture will penetrate the sheathing and structural studs, damaging the structure. Addressing these issues during construction is crucial for long-term home durability. It may take years before the damage is discovered and it will be costly to repair.
The solution or preventative measures you can take is to get a Pre-drywall and Pre-closing Home Inspection by a Certified New Construction Home Inspector.
